Irish Music: Whiskey in the Jar: one song, two styles

Traditional Irish music is known through the world and has become an important element of Ireland's cultural identity. It belongs to an oral tradition and its origin can be traced to almost thousands years ago, when the Celts arrived in Ireland.The harp, Ireland's symbol, is the best-known of Irish traditional musical instrument.
Over the time, Irish traditional music has developed and evolved into new forms, updating to the present times and mingling with other styles and rhythms.
Yet music is still a central element is social events. Irish music enthusiasts gather at a pub to play and drink beer.

One of the best-known traditional Irish song is "Whiskey in the Jar".

Les élèves de 1ºESO ont bien aimé. Ils ont posé à la fin beaucoup de questions sur sa vie en France, sa jeunesse là-bas, les différences culturelles qu´il a trouvé quand il est venu en Espagne, etc.
Nous avons écouté une chanson "DOUCE FRANCE" sur les mémoires nostalgiques du pays de l'enfance

Peace Day: "Ordinary love" by U2

"Ordinary Love" is a song by Rock band U2. It was written to honour Nelson Mandela and it is included in the biography film "Mandela Long Walk to Freedom". It is the first song by U2" since 2010.  The song was released on 29 November 2013, less than a week before Mandela died. U2  won the 2014 Golden Globe Award for best original song, and in January 2014 was nominated for the Academy Award for best original song.

On 30 January, the day devoted to  the non-violence and peace movement, first year pupils watched this original video based on the song "Imagine" by John Lennon, a universal hymn of world peace.
