Last Friday, 20 December, the last day before Christmas break, the former Real Zaragoza's football player, Jesús García San Juan , currently living in our locality Utebo, came to our school to give a talk in English to our2nd and 3rd years ESO pupils. This is an activity included in our section devoted to "external participations", in which we are deeply grateful to welcome people from the outside world to take part in our project to foster the learning of foreign languages.
He summarised his entire professional life by replying to questions that the students had already prepared in class . He talked about his origins as an amateur footballer, his time as a professional footballer at the Real Zaragoza, his personal experience as a Spanish player in Scotland. He also talked about the golden age of the Real Zaragoza, the one he had the luck to enjoy in 1995, when Real Zaragoza won the World 's Cup Winners' Cup- La Recopa-. To finish with, he gave us some advice to reach success and he motivated pupils to take studies seriously, especially the need to speak English to improve your professional, academic and personal life.
From the English Department we would like to thank Jesus García San Juan for giving us the opportunity to practise our English and for teaching our students all the values he represents. It was great to listen to his Scottish accent, and to his wise advice for those who would like to devote themselves to playing football.
